Mid-century Charm

I love vintage, in my life and in my pictures. This is an illustration for an article from an in-flight magazine about commuter marriages. To make it more fun to draw and to use the mid-century climate of marital idealism to serve my concept, I set my picture in 1966.

Wait a second. So, just to be clear, the in-flight magazine commissioned you to draw this illustration for them? I'm not surprised that it happened, to be honest, because you're that good. But I am surprised that it happened so soon, i.e., you hadn't yet graduated when you drew this.

No, unfortunately it was just a class assignment. The article had already been published and illustrated by someone, and our teacher gave us scans of the pages with the illustration blacked out. But thank you, that's really flattering!

Wow I'm glad you told me about your blog because this is amazing!!! I especially like the pilot and airplane in the foreground ;-), mad props on the tension wire details on the wings and empennage. I must admit I am fond of vintage guys fashion, what with all the suits, hats and ties. I'm actually upgrading my wardrobe to reflect this lol. You should definitely update more often, what with your art being so frakking amazing!!
